Steeped in rich history and artistic heritage, the East End Houston Cultural District stands as one of Texas’ premier designated cultural districts, renowned for its dynamic culinary offerings, historic architecture and extraordinary public art. To celebrate and highlight the district’s newest public murals, the East End Cultural District launched the East End Mundial initiative, showcasing stunning works by acclaimed artists Betirri, Meenr and Kneat. The initiative served as a creative love letter to the neighborhood, designed to draw both lifelong Houstonians and new visitors into the district to experience its vibrant cultural fabric firsthand.
CHALLENGE
While the East End Mundial murals brought immense artistic vibrancy to the neighborhood, static public art installations often struggle to capture widespread public attention on their own without sustained storytelling. The East End Houston Cultural District needed to generate meaningful, widespread buzz that moved beyond traditional announcements and resonated deeply with modern Houston audiences. Like Minds Communications was tasked with developing a dynamic influencer campaign to elevate the new murals, spotlight the participating artists and drive foot traffic to local neighborhood businesses—all while fostering long-term appreciation for the district’s unique cultural identity without relying on a massive paid advertising spend.
STRATEGY
To maximize reach and engagement, Like Minds created and executed an authentic influencer relations strategy. Recognizing that community storytelling performs best when anchored by local district collaboration, the team designed an innovative experiential activation that paired contracted lifestyle creators with neighborhood anchors to spark organic digital buzz.
INFLUENCER RELATIONS
Strategic Creator Partnerships
Like Minds launched the digital push by contracting five premier "things to do in Houston" content creators, partnering with highly reputable local voices who could authentically showcase the murals and the cultural district. Rather than dropping all content simultaneously, the team strategically staggered these contracted deliverables on a weekly cadence. This deliberate schedule sustained momentum, built anticipation and maintained steady engagement across social platforms leading up to the district’s marquee experiential event.
VIP Influencer Mural Tour & Local District Collaborations
Like Minds hosted an exclusive VIP Influencer Mural Tour that brought together over 20 content creators and 36 total attendees for a curated double-decker bus experience. Attendees toured the East End Mundial murals alongside featured artists offering creators rare, behind-the-scenes access to the inspiration and stories behind each piece.
To elevate the experience without inflating client hard costs, Like Minds secured $4,000+ in direct partner in-kind sponsorship value across four local collaborators. The Original Ninfa's on Navigation contributed by hosting a private patio reception complete with a custom nacho bar, passed margaritas and dedicated waitstaff. Houston City Tours provided a two-hour private open-top double-decker bus charter and route logistics. Socorro Tequila added value with craft cocktail service, guided tasting flights and 40 VIP mini bottles, while Hot Rod Pops contributed 40 handcrafted paletas, a custom cart activation and on-site distribution at the final mural stop.
RESULTS
The East End Mundial campaign was a resounding success across social channels. Overall, Like Minds secured 79 total content placements, reaching an impressive audience of 3.11 million with 529,000 views, 8,420 total engagements and an estimated in-kind media value of $25,000. Contracted and tour attendee content performed exceptionally well on social media, led by top-performing Instagram Reels from Jonathan Vasquez (52,000 views and 1,170 engagements), Dr. Boffone (41,000 views and 691 engagements) and Zui Hernandez (26,000 views and 74 engagements). On the experiential front, our team secured over $4,000 worth of direct partner in-kind sponsorship value from The Original Ninfa's on Navigation, Houston City Tours, Socorro Tequila and Hot Rod Pops, delivering a premium hospitality experience that immersed creators directly into neighborhood culture at zero hard cost to the client. The results reinforce that experiential community programming and authentic local district collaboration deliver the strongest content returns, creating lasting visibility and cultural momentum for the East End Cultural District.
