SENIOR PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST

We're on the hunt for our next Senior Public Relations Specialist who will lead our clients' public relations programs through traditional media relations, community relations and influencer relations efforts, while maintaining client relationships! In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Contributing to strategies to achieve and/or exceed client goals

  • Executing media relations proactively and reactively

  • Executing influencer relations proactively and reactively

  • Executing community relations proactively and reactively

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, media, influencers and partners

  • Consistently securing results for clients in order to grow month-over-month, quarter-over-quarter

  • Continuing education in order to retain current clients and attract new clients

  • Serving as expert on clients' key messages and PR opportunities

Key Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Media Relations Strategy & Execution: Responsible for the media relations strategy and execution for four to six clients

  • Thorough knowledge and utilization of AP Style

  • Fully understand how to use all tools needed to do job effectively and carry out all tasks (Meltwater, TVEyes, Google Alerts, HARO, Compete, etc.) and train PR interns on these tools, when necessary

  • Develop strong understanding and create/maintain great relationships with targeted media via email, phone calls, social media and in-person meetings

  • Collaborate and contribute ideas in team brainstorms on campaigns and pitches for clients and promotions

  • Stay abreast of PR/media trends and contacts and relay information to team and determine how to best apply to clients; ongoing research to understand trends, relevant media members, markets and industries

  • Develop media relations campaign strategies as they relate to clients’ goals; work with digital counterpart to ensure they align with digital strategies; work with Head of PR and Client Accounts to ensure PR strategies align with clients’ larger goals and objectives

  • Stay up to date with all news relevant to targeted clients; spend 1-2 hours a week on maintaining strong familiarity with media, industry trends and current events and react appropriately to missed and new opportunities

  • Secure trade, national, local and/or regional coverage for all client accounts, following goals set out with clients and Supervisor

  • Actively attend client events and on-site liaison for coordinating details as necessary; create influencer/media/attendance list

  • Monitor competitor/industry media coverage and social media conversations about client topic and bring opportunities and trends to clients

  • Follow all media personalities and industry influencers on social media platforms and engage to develop and maintain strong personal relationships

  • Develop all PR-related materials and keep up to date and on server (including pitches, press releases, media lists, talking points, community opportunities, event collateral, bios, fact sheets, media kit, etc.)

  • Media outreach via phone, email, calendar listings, and media drops

  • Monitor and pitch to all appropriate HARO’s, Substacks and relevant reactive opportunities

  • Monitor editorial calendars for PR opportunities, and pitch as appropriate

  • Assist in and attend media interviews and photoshoots onsite – both the trusted resource for media and client along with Supervisor

  • Deliver photos and necessary follow-up materials to media outlets, as necessary from interview or event

  • Review all media coverage for accuracy, spelling, tone, etc.

  • Monitor and capture all news clippings, as it happens, and send to client; keep media coverage charts current

Community Relations Strategy & Execution: Responsible for the strategy and/or execution of community relations efforts for clients on two to four accounts

  • Develop community relations campaign strategies as they relate to clients’ goals; work with digital counterpart to ensure they align with digital strategies; work with Head of PR and Client Accounts to ensure PR strategies align with clients’ larger goals and objectives

  • Seek out and secure strategic partners for mutually-beneficial cross promotional opportunities and awards

  • Research and develop community partnership opportunities

  • Coordinate details of community and client events and partnerships and ensure social media counterpart has copy on behalf of client for partners to post/share our message, if appropriate

  • Submit award documents and gather materials for submission

Influencer Relations Strategy & Execution: Responsible for the influencer relations strategy and execution for two to three clients

  • Fully understand how to use all relevant influencer relations softwares and tools needed to do job effectively

  • Stay abreast of influencer relations trends and processes

  • Collaborate and contribute ideas in team brainstorms on influencer relations initiatives

  • Develop strategies for and execute all influencer relations deliverables, including but not limited to:

    • Development of influencer relations strategies that align with larger client goals and overall scope of service

    • Researching and building influencer lists

    • Developing and distributing influencer pitches and partnership asks emails (or correspondence via social media channels)

    • Developing influencer contracts and executing upon all relevant deliverables

    • Engaging with influencers via client social media channels, providing them with social media collateral/messaging/handles and/or working with relevant team members to execute upon any social media engagement

    • Tracking and reporting influencer relations results via monthly or quarterly measurement reports and/or real-time reports

    • Tracking and reporting expenses and budget

    • Building and maintaining relationships with local, regional and national influencers on behalf of agency and clientele

    DIGITAL & SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST

    Social Media: Responsible for the social media strategy development and execution for 4-5 full-time clients:

    • Develop quarterly, biannual or annual social media strategies and content pillars for clients

    • Develop all content for social media pages for client and send to client for approval, when necessary

      • Development of monthly or weekly content calendars

      • Development of weekly or daily posts, including but not limited to Facebook (Facebook Live, Facebook Events, Facebook Fundraisers, etc.), Instagram (Reels, Instagram Stories, Highlights, IGTV), Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn and more

    • Keep social media pages current – including integrating platform changes and trending topics, update cover photos or working with team members or Graphic Designer to update

    • Monitor all platforms (including review sites; for those in scope) and draft responses to positive and negative comments, looping Manager, Digital & Social Media in for final approvals

    • Use social media to seek and engage in conversations taking place in order to benefit goals of the client

    • Proactively seek out social media opportunities that may help client business prosper

    • Establish continuous growth, impressions and engagement for all client accounts, following goals set out with Manager, Digital & Social Media, Project Manager and/or Senior Manager, Client Accounts, team members and clients

    • Responsible for measurement, analysis and reporting growth of social sites in order to recognize growth patterns, identify issues and proactively make suggestions to improve strategy to meet client goals

    • Develop progress updates or recaps, for Manager, Digital & Social Media, Project Manager and/or Senior Manager, Client Accounts to send to client, during and after social media campaigns, as appropriate

    • Become expert on client’s business, industry, brand, talking points, competitors, community

    • Assist PR Specialists in maintaining relationship with strategic partners over digital channels for mutually-beneficial cross promotional opportunities

    • Monitor all competitor and industry social media presences, across all channels and provide strategic recommendations

    • Attend relevant client events or photoshoots to take photos/video (for all clients) to be used on social platforms and live tweet/post/respond on channels for designated client

    • Attend client site to gather photos for all clients, when appropriate

    Email Marketing: Responsible for the email marketing strategy development and execution for 2-3 full-time clients

    • Manage strategy and execution of weekly or monthly email marketing needs; review with Manager, Digital & Social Media

      • Development of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual content calendars

      • Develop all written copy needed for email newsletters/eblasts

      • Assist with multimedia content needed for email newsletters/eblasts

        • Work with graphic design team to develop all visual content needed for email newsletters/eblasts

    • Ensure all email contact lists are kept up to date, tagged and segmented as appropriate

    • Ensure email marketing strategy and execution of strategy aligns with other team members’ work and scope (ie: social media posts, social media ads, website, etc.)

    • Establish continuous growth, click-through rates and traffic to website (or sales) for all client accounts, following goals set out with Manager, Digital & Social Media, Project Manager and/or Senior Manager, Client Accounts, team members and clients

    • Responsible for measurement, analysis and reporting growth of email marketing in order to recognize growth patterns, identify issues and proactively make suggestions to improve strategy to meet client goals

    • Develop and/or contribute to developing, correctly and strategically place and manage social media advertising strategy and ongoing monitoring and analysis; provide suggestions if/when it is not working

    • Develop and/or contribute to developing, correctly and strategically place and manage Google/PPC advertising strategy and ongoing monitoring and analysis; provide suggestions if/when it is not working

    • Develop and/or contribute to developing strategies surrounding other digital advertising initiatives (ie: paid email marketing campaigns with online outlets, banner/display ads, etc.) and execute, working with relevant team members and/or Graphic Designer for necessary creative and collateral

    • Work with Manager of Digital & Social Media to consistently grow as a digital and social media advertising professional, to engage in continuing education and to put this learning into practice for clients

      Create excellence for clients through graphic design and branding

      • Has advanced understanding of branding and related creative deliverables

      • Expert knowledge in all graphic design programs and tools

      • Expert of Like Minds’ clients and each client’s brand guidelines to conceptualize design solutions to fit them and their needs

      • Comprehensive awareness of new platforms, technologies, and trends

      • Delivers concepts, pitches and final executions based on strategy to teams and clients

      • Oversees project conceptualization and development, including execution

      • Development of overall brand image and brand voice for clients and/or ensuring that we are maintaining brand consistency through design, video and marketing efforts, including but not limited to:

        • Developing brand guidelines or brand one-pagers at start of relationship or when it feels necessary for clients

        • Working with team to develop branded Canva templates for social media platforms

      • Work with team to develop branded imagery for videos

      • Work with team to develop any branded collateral needed for client (marketing decks, PPT slides, letterheads, business cards, social media cover photos, etc.)

      • Lead client and team on multimedia and creative direction and execute design initiatives

      • Lead creative/graphic strategy and idea generation for clients, including copy suggestions and multimedia capabilities

      • Thorough understanding of social media and public relations to know how graphics/videos will be utilized

      • Participate in all internal and external client meetings where design or branding may be involved and/or get debrief from team after the fact

      • Deep understanding of client goals to ensure graphic design elements meet these needs and further the marketing campaign and business goals

      • Consistently provide innovative, out of the box and/or unique concepts to bring designs to the next level

      • Actively share new design trends and tools relevant to graphic design, marketing, branding, social media and public relations

      • Provide feedback and guidance to client and account team on creative direction
